Mystery sushi thief makes off with restaurant's fish

New York police are currently on the lookout for a Batman villain in training who snatched up approximately $1,600 worth of seafood from a Japanese restaurant in Long Island City.

Anybody who’s had to pick up the check at a sushi restaurant lately can surely sympathize with the culprit.

The suspected sushi snatcher is reported to have brazenly walked into the kitchen of the sushi restaurant through the backdoor around 10:40 p.m., in full view of security cameras.

The NY Daily News says the man is between 30 and 40 years old, with a slim build. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a light-colored polo shirt, baseball cap, and black sunglasses.

Once inside the kitchen, the sushi-stealer picked up several cases of raw tuna, red snapper, eel, and crab, then successfully beat a hasty retreat with the makings of his own sushi stand.

Police say that the ill-gotten ichthyoids are worth more than $1,000.
